In today’s art scene, where digital culture meets human experience, HYPNOTIQ stands out as a visionary artist and modern-day pop icon. A Seattle-based creator and former tech innovator, HYPNOTIQ channels his background from Microsoft, where he played an instrumental role in projects like XBOX 1 and the early days of AI. He now uses this experience in technology to power his art, blending high-tech mediums like 3D printing and LED lighting with the expressive language of pop art.
HYPNOTIQ’s work is deeply personal and socially impactful, drawing on his childhood memories of growing up in Iran during the 1978-79 Revolution. At just five years old, he witnessed the brutal torture of his mother and aunt—a trauma that would later inspire him to use art as a means of advocating for women’s rights and freedom. His series Women Unite, inspired by figures like Mahsa Amini, captures the resilience and bravery of Iranian women in their ongoing fight for justice. Through Women Unite, HYPNOTIQ presents a powerful narrative of love and light, dedicating each piece to the beauty of self-expression and the right of every woman to “simply shine.”
A CRITIQUE OF CONSUMER CULTURE WITH A PERSONAL TWIST
Critics have noted how HYPNOTIQ’s works echo the legacy of artists like Andy Warhol, especially in his neon, high-gloss recreations of pop culture icons—Louboutin heels, Marilyn Monroe busts, and Campbell’s Soup cans, to name a few. As one reviewer remarked, “HYPNOTIQ’s polished sculptures, reminiscent of Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup cans, exude a sleek appearance akin to digital airbrushed images, perfectly suited for our tech-driven era.” Yet, while Warhol celebrated and critiqued consumerism, HYPNOTIQ adds an intensely personal layer, incorporating motifs and splashes that symbolize both the fragility and resilience he witnessed during the Iranian Revolution.
One particularly striking piece, a reimagined Shahyad Tower, uses splatter-paint techniques to evoke explosions—a subtle reminder of the artist’s own experience as a child witnessing a country in turmoil. Through this blend of polished consumerist imagery and raw emotion, HYPNOTIQ’s work becomes a mirror of both his personal journey and the collective human experience, encouraging viewers to engage in critical inquiry about beauty, trauma, and societal transformation.
TRANSFORMING SPACES WITH “HYPNOTIQ XPERIENCE”
Beyond gallery walls, HYPNOTIQ brings his art to life with immersive installations, transforming spaces with neon glow-in-the-dark sculptures, multimedia effects, and interactive elements. Through the HYPNOTIQ Xperience, he has the unique ability to reimagine environments, using sound and light-activated electronics to draw viewers into his world. One of the highlights of his installations is his luxury Smart Mannequin series, equipped with Samsung S7 tablets, providing a futuristic blend of fashion and technology. From boutiques showcasing the latest fashion to hotels offering convenient self-check-ins, these mannequins add a dynamic, high-tech allure to any space.
In his own words, HYPNOTIQ says, “I celebrate with ‘love’ and ‘light,’ writing on my models during shows, ‘simply to shine,’ as every woman should.” Whether in New York, Miami, or Washington, he travels with a mission: to celebrate beauty, advocate for freedom, and use art to spark meaningful conversations.
AWARD-WINNING ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS
In recognition of his advocacy for women’s rights, HYPNOTIQ was honored with a humanitarian award at The Cutting Room in Manhattan. His project Women Unite by HYPNOTIQ received high praise at Miami Art Basel in 2022, where he dedicated a 3,000-square-foot installation to raise awareness for Iranian women’s rights. This work, incorporating phygital NFTs and multimedia, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of women fighting for freedom—a cause close to his heart.
HYPNOTIQ’s art is more than just visually captivating; it’s a call to hope and resilience, reminding us that beauty and justice are interconnected forces capable of transcending cultural and political divides. Through his work, HYPNOTIQ challenges us to see art not only as a reflection of our world but as a powerful tool for change.
