LOUIS VUITTON LOVE | 24K Gold Leaf Sculpture on Black Sparkle | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
LOUIS VUITTON LOVE stacks the four letters of the word LOVE in rustic 24K gold above a black sparkle base carrying a large monogram logo and brand name. It is the second and newer version of this sculpture, reworked from a piece the artist first made several years earlier.
Two things separate this version from the original. The edges are sharper, with the letterforms and the base geometry resolved to a crisper definition throughout. And the gold is real 24K gold leaf, applied by hand, where the earlier version was finished without leaf. Gold leaf does not behave like gold paint: it is laid on in fragile sheets that break and overlap as they settle, so the surface carries a fine rustic texture and shifts between deep burnished warmth and bright metallic flash depending on the angle of the light.
That leaf is set against a black sparkle base, which is the highest contrast pairing in the artist vocabulary. The black holds fine glitter that only reveals itself at close range, so from across a room the composition reads as two flat blocks, gold on black, and up close both surfaces turn out to be alive with texture.
The subject is the language of luxury retail. A monogram is one of the most efficient status signals ever designed, legible from across a street before any product is seen. HYPNOTIQ sets the word LOVE above it, so the thing being elevated is the sentiment rather than the label.
The work is fabricated in recycled plastic and hand finished, with the letters modelled as inflated, balloon like volumes that keep the tone light against the precision of the base beneath.
At 12.75 inches tall on a compact 3.25 inch square footprint, this is a shelf, console, desk, vitrine or bookcase piece that needs very little surface area for the presence it carries. It suits collectors of fashion inspired and designer inspired art, pop art collectors, luxury interior designers and art consultants, and it sits naturally in residential interiors, dressing rooms, boutiques and showrooms.
