CATS | High Gloss Feline Pop Art Sculpture | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
CATS renders the feline form in HYPNOTIQ's pop art language and finishes it to a mirror smooth gloss: minimalist in form, maximal in surface.
The work. Cats have been sculptural subjects for five thousand years, which makes them one of the hardest things to say anything new about. HYPNOTIQ takes the restraint route: the anatomy is simplified almost to the point of abstraction, all the detail is pushed into the finish, and what remains is posture. The result reads as attitude rather than as a study of an animal.
The form. Alert, upright and stripped of incidental detail, the figures hold their character in the line of the back, the set of the ears and the curve of the tail. The high gloss surface is what makes the silhouette legible from a distance, since the reflection traces the contour of the body continuously.
Materials and craft. A 3D printed structural core finished in resin, acrylics and epoxy under a hand finished automotive grade high gloss coating.
For the collector. Fits naturally on a bookshelf, a side table, a console or a gallery corner where the finish has light to work with.
