DESIGNER LOVE SKULLS is the most opulent memento mori in the catalogue: a set of skulls finished in the palette and pattern language of luxury fashion.
The work. Created in 2023, the set poses a straightforward question and answers it with objects. What does it mean to surround mortality with beauty? Fashion houses build entire identities on the promise of permanence through style, and applying that visual language to a skull puts the promise and its limit in the same object.
The form. Presented as a set, the skulls read as a conversation that no single piece could carry, because the differences between the colourways are what generate the meaning. Each is finished in a distinct fashion inspired treatment, so the group functions as a series of variations rather than as repetition.
