DOUBLE HEART turns the human figure into a carrier for the most recognisable symbol there is, using two heart forms rather than one so the composition reads as a rhythm instead of a single statement.
The work. Created in 2022, the piece is direct without being simple. Repeating the heart is what does the work: one heart is a message, two becomes a pattern, and the eye starts reading the figure as a designed object rather than as a person carrying a badge. It is romantic and bold at once.
The form. Gold and chrome dominate the body, and against those metallics the saturated red hearts are the only warm colour in the composition, which is why they hold the eye from any distance. The metallic surfaces collect and bend the surrounding room, so the piece is never a fixed colour.
Materials and craft. Full mannequin form with a resin coat, acrylics, spray paint, epoxy and hand painted heart detailing, finished with an automotive grade high gloss coat. Freestanding on a weighted base.
