FEMALE TORSO is the most classically grounded work in the catalogue: the torso form that has occupied sculptors for five thousand years, translated into contemporary resin and finished to a high gloss.
The work. Created in 2022, the piece demonstrates something specific about material. The classical torso has always been read through marble, a stone that absorbs light and softens edges. Rendering the same form in high gloss resin reverses that: the surface now reflects, the contours sharpen, and a shape associated with antiquity acquires a distinctly modern tension.
The form. The composition is deliberately incomplete in the way the tradition demands, the fragment standing for the whole. Surface fracture and metallic detailing run across the body, so the piece reads as something both broken and gilded, and the unbroken gloss lets a single highlight travel the full length of the torso.
