GUCCI LOVE stacks the word LOVE in red above a sculpted shopping bag in gold and green carrying the house logo.
The designer LOVE series. Each work stacks the four letters of LOVE, modelled as soft bubble forms, on top of a fully sculpted designer shopping bag. The luxury shopping bag is one of the most efficient status symbols ever designed, recognisable from across a street before any product is seen. HYPNOTIQ turns it into a plinth and sets the word LOVE on top, so what is elevated is the sentiment rather than the label. Companion works in the series are listed individually.
The colour. This is the only work in the series built on a three colour palette, and the only one where the bag is more complex than the letters. Red, gold and green is a combination that should not work and does, because the green band cuts the gold at exactly the point where the eye would otherwise slide off the form.
The form. At 15.25 inches it shares the tallest proportion in the series with the Chanel Violet Chrome, but reads warmer and denser because gold absorbs and softens light where chrome bounces it.
For the collector. The most saturated work in the group and the one that carries best in a warm or wood toned interior, where chrome and black can feel cold. Suited to a console, shelf, dressing room or boutique display.
