The OCEAN TURTLE TABLE is a functional artwork: a coffee table in which a shoreline of genuine olive wood gives way to a deep blue ocean poured in epoxy resin, with sea turtles suspended mid glide beneath the surface.
The work. Resin river tables are a familiar form. What changes here is that the resin is not an abstract pour but a depicted seascape with figures inside it, so the table stops being furniture with a decorative inlay and becomes a scene viewed from above. The wood edge is left to do what wood does, wandering and irregular, and the ocean is engineered around it.
The form. The olive wood shoreline runs along one side with its natural live edge intact, transitioning into the resin field. The turtles are positioned at different depths and angles so the composition has real perspective rather than sitting flat. Against these organic elements, a cluster of high polish stainless steel gazing spheres is encased in a crystal clear resin block, introducing a hard, reflective, entirely contemporary counterweight to the coastal imagery.
Materials and craftsmanship. Authentic olive wood sourced from Jerusalem. Premium food safe epoxy resin in deep ocean blue and crystal clear. Custom 3D printed and hand painted resin sea turtles. High polish stainless steel gazing mirror spheres. A sturdy geometric matte black metal base. The piece was 3D modelled, printed, painted, poured and finished entirely by the artist.
Use and placement. The top is sealed with a durable food safe clear resin coat, so it is built for daily use as a coffee table or accent table rather than for display only. It suits a coastal or contemporary living room, a high rise apartment with a water view, a lounge or a hospitality interior, and appeals to collectors of functional art and sculptural furniture.
