An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
LION PURSE, SMALL is the compact scale in the series, closed with a gathered black drawstring at the top rather than the large version's chrome banded opening.
The work. LION PURSE takes the shape of a handbag and treats it as sculpture. The body is modelled as a soft, fabric like form, with folds and drape frozen into rigid material, and mounted on the front is a low poly lion face rendered in sharp geometric planes.
The argument. The two halves of the object disagree with each other, which is the point. The bag reads as textile: yielding, gathered, almost weightless. The lion reads as engineered: faceted, angular, resolved into flat triangles the way a 3D model looks before it is smoothed. Softness and geometry occupy the same object.
For the collector. The smaller footprint makes it the natural entry point into the series, and an easy object to live with on a shelf, a desk or a vanity between wearings.
