MAGNOLIA SUSPENDED transforms the female form into a contemporary symbol of resilience, freedom and self-definition, rooted in the artist's Persian and Iranian heritage.
The work. Mirrored purple Plexiglas and pearl silk-white magnolia forms bring reflection, memory and renewal into the same composition. The sculpture connects the delicacy of the flower with the strength of the female figure, creating a work that moves between beauty and resistance.
The meaning. The magnolia becomes a symbol of renewal and persistence, while the female form speaks to the ongoing struggle for women's autonomy in Iran. Rather than illustrate that struggle literally, the work translates it into material, reflection and sculptural form.
