MARILYN PILLAR is the most monumental work in the HYPNOTIQ Monroe series: a full height sculpture at 60 inches that gives the most reproduced face of the twentieth century the physical scale it never had in print.
The work. Created in 2022, the piece is an argument about scale. This subject has been endlessly reproduced at the size of a page, a screen or a canvas, and those formats all keep her at arm's length. Building her at human height changes the relationship completely: the viewer stands with the work rather than in front of it.
The form. A vertical, columnar composition that holds together from every angle, engineered with internal structural support so a work of this height stays stable on a floor base. The high gloss surface runs unbroken from top to bottom, so a single reflection can travel the full length of the piece.
Materials and craft. Full pillar height resin sculpture with acrylics, spray paint and epoxy under a high gloss automotive finish, with internal structural support and a floor display base.
For the collector. This is a room defining work rather than an addition to a shelf: a lobby, an entry hall, a double height living space, a gallery, a showroom or a hospitality interior. It suits collectors with the space to let a life size figure be seen properly, and it functions as the anchor a collection is arranged around.
