MELTING ME | High Gloss Surrealist Pop Art Sculpture | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
MELTING ME is a human form caught in the middle of dissolving, rendered in saturated resin and finished to a gloss that makes the act of melting look luxurious rather than tragic.
The work. Created in 2022, it is one of the most emotionally ambiguous pieces in the catalogue, and deliberately so. A melting figure can be read as surrender or as metamorphosis, and the sculpture refuses to settle the question. Because the finish is beautiful rather than distressed, the work resists the obvious reading that dissolution is loss.
The form. The head and shoulders slump and pool downward, with the features still legible near the top and increasingly abstracted toward the base, so the eye reads the piece as a process running vertically. The unbroken gloss follows every curve of the melt without interruption, which is what gives the deformation its liquid quality.
Materials and craft. Resin cast figure with melting form structural elements, acrylics, spray paint and epoxy under a high gloss finish, on a display base.
