METALLIC WAVES is a 42 by 42 inch mixed media wall installation: wave form elements radiating around a central mirrored sphere.
The work. Created in 2023, this is the most formally rigorous wall piece in the catalogue. It works on a single structural idea, that a curved mirror at the centre of a radial composition will always pull the eye inward, and then uses the wave forms to keep sending it back out. The result is a composition the eye cannot settle in.
The form. The mirrored sphere reflects the room back into the centre of the work, which makes the viewer, the space and the artwork inseparable. Around it the wave elements sit proud of the ground plane and cast dimensional shadows that shift as the light moves, so the surrounding field is never static.
The experience. Optical, immersive and impossible to look at without seeing something new. The square format at 42 inches gives it the presence of a painting with the behaviour of a sculpture.
For the collector. A feature wall work for a living room, dining room, lobby, boardroom or gallery. It suits collectors of geometric abstraction, optical art and reflective surface work.
