MOTO GIRL BLACK is the largest work in the HYPNOTIQ Moto Girl series at 54 inches, crowned with a matte black motorcycle helmet that absorbs light rather than returning it.
The work. Created in 2023, the series replaces the head with a helmet, which removes the face and with it any reading of the piece as a portrait. What remains is stance and surface. This is the series at its most uncompromising: maximum presence, and a refusal to invite the viewer in through expression.
The form. The matte helmet sits at the top of the composition as a deliberate dead spot, the one area that gives nothing back, and the surface work below it carries the energy by contrast. High contrast finishing runs through the body, and the figure stands freestanding on a weighted base.
Materials and craft. Full mannequin form, matte black motorcycle helmet element, resin finish, matte and gloss acrylics, epoxy and high contrast finishing, on a weighted freestanding base.
For the collector. At 54 inches this is a floor standing anchor for an entry, a landing, a boutique, a showroom or an open plan living space, and it holds a room without needing anything beside it. It suits collectors of figurative pop sculpture and of work at the crossover of motorcycle culture and contemporary art.
