MOTO GIRL RED is the most vivid work in the HYPNOTIQ Moto Girl series: a full standing figure crowned with a lacquered red motorcycle helmet, finished in the studio high gloss.
The work. Created in 2022, the series is built on a substitution. Replacing the head with a helmet removes the face entirely, and with it any possibility of reading the figure as a portrait. What is left is posture, colour and gear, and the piece becomes about presence rather than identity. It is motion captured in stillness.
The form. The red helmet is the first thing seen from anywhere in a room, sitting at the top of the composition like a signal. Below it the body carries dense graphic surface work, and the figure stands on a base of mirrored spheres that lifts it clear of the floor and throws colour back up into the underside.
Materials and craft. Full mannequin form, red lacquer motorcycle helmet element, resin finish, acrylics, spray paint and epoxy under a high gloss automotive coat, on a weighted freestanding base.
For the collector. At 50 inches this is a floor standing work for an entry, a landing, a boutique, a showroom or an open living space. It suits collectors of figurative pop sculpture and anyone drawn to the crossover of motorcycle culture and contemporary art.
