NEON GORILLAS | Fluorescent UV Large Scale Pop Art Pair | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
NEON GORILLAS is the most visually explosive large scale work in the catalogue: a pair of gorilla sculptures finished in full neon fluorescent paint that transforms completely under UV light.
The work. Created in 2023, the piece takes an animal associated with weight, darkness and gravity and paints it in the least natural palette available. The mismatch is the point. Neon is a colour of signage and nightlife, and applying it at this scale to a primate form produces something that reads as neither wildlife sculpture nor pure abstraction.
The experience. In daylight the pair are striking pop art sculptures with real physical authority. Under UV they become something else entirely: neon animals in a dark room, glowing from within their own surface. Two modes, one work, and the transition between them is instant.
The form. Presented as a pair, with the figures playing against each other in posture and scale, so the composition reads as a group rather than as two objects placed near each other. Each stands freestanding on a weighted base.
Materials and craft. Large scale resin gorilla forms with neon fluorescent paint throughout, UV reactive elements, spray paint and an epoxy seal, on weighted freestanding bases.
For the collector. At roughly 36 inches each this is an installation rather than a pair of objects: a lobby, a double height living space, a club, a showroom, a gallery or a hospitality interior with the ability to control its lighting. It makes rooms feel like installations.
