An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.

NEON PUPPY FREQUENCY builds a luminous animal form from three highly polished stainless steel mirror spheres, set above a bed of illuminated Plexiglas. It belongs to the reflective, balloon inspired visual language that runs through contemporary pop art sculpture, read here through the eye of an artist trained as a computer scientist. Where that lineage traditionally works in inflated volume and mirror polish, HYPNOTIQ adds an engineered light source and lets the sculpture behave differently after dark.

The mirror spheres do the first half of the work. Their curved chrome surfaces absorb the surrounding room and hand it back distorted, so architecture, skyline, furniture and the viewer all become temporary parts of the piece. Walk around it and the composition never repeats.

The base does the second half. Roughly nine bars of neon and UV reactive Plexiglas are laid over two black light LED bars, with transparent neon green Plexiglas carrying the charge. Under ultraviolet illumination the cut acrylic edges ignite from within, and that glow climbs into the mirrored spheres above, so reflection and refraction compound each other rather than simply sitting side by side.

The result is a mixed media sculpture with two distinct states. In daylight it reads as precise, cool and architectural: chrome, clear acrylic, hard geometry. With the black light bars active it becomes saturated and kinetic, throwing colored light onto the surface it sits on.

The scale suits a console, a credenza, a wide shelf or a low display plinth, and the piece is well matched to contemporary interiors, gallery presentation and collectors of luminous or light based sculpture. It is a natural anchor for a room where the lighting is already part of the design.
