O SCALE | Model Train Art Sculpture Set | HYPNOTIQ
An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
O SCALE is a one of one resin sculpture set built around a model train, made in collaboration with the graffiti artists Emer and Dioxide.
The work. Trains and graffiti have one of the longest shared histories in art. The freight car is where the entire discipline began, and a model train carrying work by two established writers is that history folded back on itself at a hundredth of the scale. The collaboration is genuine rather than referential: the surface work is by the writers, not an imitation of their style.
The form. Box car and engine, modelled with the mechanical detail the format demands, then treated as a canvas. The piece rewards close inspection in a way most sculpture does not, because the detail is at model scale and the surface work is at street scale.
Materials and craft. A 3D printed structural core, hand sanded to a fully smooth surface, with hand applied graffiti work, encased in an automotive grade high gloss resin finish.
For the collector. It bridges hobbyist craft and contemporary sculpture, and suits a study, a library shelf, an office or a collector display case where mechanical nostalgia sits comfortably beside a fine art finish. It appeals to graffiti and street art collectors and to model railway collectors moving toward art.
