MEOW 2 | PINK MEW Fluorescent Resin Pop Art Sculpture | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
MEOW 2, shown in the collection as PINK MEW, is a seated feline figure rendered in a single saturated fluorescent pink. The pose is relaxed and upright, the tail curling out and away from the body, and the whole form is carried by curve rather than edge.
Colour is the entire proposition. There is no shading, no secondary palette and no surface pattern, so the sculpture behaves like a solid block of pigment given three dimensions. Under gallery light the fluorescent pink pushes forward and appears to hum against neutral walls, which is exactly the effect the work is built for.
The eyes break the monochrome. Rendered in white with blue detail, they are the only place the eye can rest, and they give the figure its character and direction of gaze. Everything else is deliberately withheld.
The piece is produced as a high quality resin print and finished to a smooth, continuous gloss, so the reflections travel unbroken across the body. It sits on a custom round resin base approximately two inches thick, whose dark, mirror like top face throws a soft inverted reflection beneath the figure and lifts it clear of the surface below.
At 15 inches tall with a footprint of roughly 17 inches across the base, this is a substantial statement sculpture for a console, a plinth, an entry table, a wide shelf or a corner of a room that needs a single point of colour. It suits pop art collectors, collectors of character and pop culture sculpture, and interiors built around neutral architecture where one saturated object does all the work.
