An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
PINK PANTHER ON PUFFY JACKET fuses two of the most recognisable silhouettes in modern visual culture: the long limbed cartoon cat of mid century animation, and the quilted puffer jacket that streetwear turned into a status object. HYPNOTIQ merges them into a single body, so the character does not wear the jacket, the character is the jacket.
The puffer form is rendered in a mirror bright chrome finish, its quilted panels catching and bending the light of the room, while the character above stays saturated and flat pink. That contrast, reflective versus solid, cool metal versus hot cartoon color, is what gives the piece its charge at close range.
The sculpture is fabricated in recycled PLA, hand painted in acrylic and sealed under food safe epoxy resin. The resin is what produces the deep, wet looking gloss across the finished surface, and it gives the color a sense of depth rather than a flat coat.
