SAKURA ETERNAL takes the most famously temporary image in art history and makes it permanent. A flowering cherry branch reaches outward in luminous pearl silk white, rising from a plinth of crystal clear Plexiglas so transparent that the branch appears to be growing out of nothing at all.
The work. Cherry blossom has carried the same meaning for centuries: beauty at its peak, and the knowledge that the peak will not hold. Most depictions choose the fall, the petals already leaving the branch. HYPNOTIQ chooses the opposite instant, the moment of full bloom, and freezes it. The sculpture is not about loss. It is about holding the best second of something indefinitely, which is a very contemporary idea executed with very old symbolism.
The form. The branch sweeps outward with the irregular rhythm of real growth rather than the symmetry of ornament, so the composition reads differently from every angle. Blossoms are sculpted individually with layered, dimensional petals. Some are fully open, others still closed into buds, and that mix is what gives the piece its narrative: the eye travels along the branch and reads it as a process rather than a static object. The flowers function architecturally, guiding attention through the composition rather than simply decorating it.
Materials and finish. The branch and blossoms are produced through digital fabrication in pearl silk white, a filament that carries a low, porcelain like luminosity rather than a flat matte or a hard gloss. Light travels across the petals and pools in the recesses between them, so the surface shifts quietly through the day as the light in the room changes. The crystal clear Plexiglas plinth does the opposite job: it refuses to be seen, lifting the branch into the air and letting the surface beneath show straight through.
For the collector. This is a piece for people who want botanical work without sentimentality.
