MIRROR SELF | Interactive Smart Mannequin Torso | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
MIRROR SELF is a kinetic interactive torso sculpture that combines mirror elements with an integrated Samsung smart tablet, so the work functions simultaneously as a reflective surface, a content display and a sculptural object.
The work. Created in 2022, the piece deliberately collapses the distance between the viewer and the viewed. Most sculpture asks to be looked at. This one looks back, and then shows you something else on top of your own reflection. The result is a work that cannot be experienced without the audience becoming part of it.
The form. A full torso in high chrome finish, its head visored and reflective, with the tablet set into the chest where a logo or a heart would sit. Draped metallic fabric elements fall from the lower body, breaking the hard reflective geometry with something soft and moving.
Materials and craft. Full mannequin torso, integrated mirror elements, a Samsung Wi-Fi smart tablet, LED lighting, resin finish, acrylics and an epoxy seal. Freestanding.
For the collector. In a retail or hospitality environment it drives engagement because visitors interact with it rather than walking past. In a private interior it works as a conversation piece and a light source. It suits collectors of interactive and technology based contemporary sculpture.
