SPHERED BALLOON DOG is the studio's own reading of contemporary art's most familiar form, reinterpreted with an integrated spherical base that gives it unexpected visual weight.
The work. Created in 2022, the piece adds one element to a form everyone already knows, and that single addition changes the argument. A balloon dog on a flat plinth is a toy elevated. A balloon dog fused to a sphere is an object built on geometry, and the composition reads as considered rather than found. The sphere says this is not a toy; it is a sculpture that happens to make you happy.
The form. The twisted balloon silhouette sits above a clean, mathematically simple mass, so the piece runs curve against curve at two entirely different scales. At 22 inches it has enough height to read from across a room while staying within tabletop range.
