SPLASHED STORMTROOPER | Pop Culture Resin Sculpture | HYPNOTIQ

An original contemporary artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
SPLASHED STORMTROOPER takes the most recognisable uniformed soldier in cinema and covers it in paint, freeing a figure built for uniformity from its own aesthetic rules.
The work. Created in 2021, the sculpture works because of what it is defacing. The trooper design exists to communicate order, anonymity and mass production, and no other subject makes a paint splash read so much like an act of liberation. The splash says that even the most rigid systems can be made beautiful with the right medium.
The form. The armour geometry stays intact and precise underneath, which matters: the splash only reads as disruption because the thing beneath it is so controlled. Spray paint splash elements are applied across the white body in saturated colour, then sealed so the drips are permanent and glossy rather than matte and dry.
Materials and craft. Resin cast trooper figure with spray paint splash elements, acrylics and epoxy under a high gloss finish, on a display base.
For the collector. It works in two worlds at once, which is rarer than it looks: film collectors recognise the subject, art collectors recognise the gesture. Suited to a shelf, desk, media room, office or a collection of pop culture sculpture.
