An original contemporary sculptural artwork by Arian Lori-Amini, known professionally as HYPNOTIQ.
LION PURSE, LARGE is the fuller of the two scales in the series, finished with a rigid arched handle and a chrome mesh band set around the opening.
The work. LION PURSE takes the shape of a handbag and treats it as sculpture. The body is modelled as a soft, fabric like form, with folds and drape frozen into rigid material, and mounted on the front is a low poly lion face rendered in sharp geometric planes.
The argument. The two halves of the object disagree with each other, which is the point. The bag reads as textile: yielding, gathered, almost weightless. The lion reads as engineered: faceted, angular, resolved into flat triangles the way a 3D model looks before it is smoothed. Softness and geometry occupy the same object.
For the collector. Carried, or set on a shelf or console as a sculptural object. It suits collectors of wearable art and fashion inspired sculpture, and anyone who wants an object that works equally as an accessory and as a piece of art.
