TIFFANY LUX is a functional sculpture: a working mini refrigerator rebuilt from the outside in as a contemporary artwork, with original 3D sculpted components, an automotive grade finish and an integrated touchscreen.
The work. Taking a mass produced household appliance and treating it as a sculptural substrate puts this piece in a long pop art tradition of elevating the ordinary object. The difference is that the function is retained. It still cools, which means the collector does not simply display the artwork, they use it, and the boundary between owning art and living with it collapses. This is a one of one original.
The form. Every sculptural element was digitally designed by the artist, 3D printed, then refined by hand and integrated into the appliance body so the additions read as part of one object rather than as attachments. The result has the presence of a sculpture and the proportions of furniture.
Materials and finish. A Honeywell mini refrigerator forms the core. Over it sit custom 3D printed architectural details and hand finished sculptural surfaces, coated in a multi layer automotive inspired paint process and sealed under a three layer resin treatment. That build is what produces the depth and durability of the surface: the colour sits under glass rather than on top of it, and reflections travel across the form without breaking.
Technology. An integrated touchscreen tablet is built into the piece, bridging physical sculpture and digital display and opening the work to interactive digital art.
For the collector. Suited to luxury interiors, creative studios, entertaining spaces, bars and hospitality environments where a piece is expected to work as hard as it looks. It appeals to collectors of functional art, contemporary mixed media sculpture and design objects that carry a technology component.
